Don't spend too much time looking at those plates. When it comes to the Wuerhosaurus, it pays to keep an eye on this animal's thagomizer. You don't want to be on the receiving end of a swing of that tail!

Wuerhosaurus is a genus of stegosaurid dinosaur in Jurassic World Evolution 2. Originating from Early Cretaceous Asia, it's among the last stegosaurs known to have existed. It's part of the Early Cretaceous Pack DLC.

Characteristics[]

Measuring 8 meters long and weighing 4 tons, Wuerhosaurus is a large plant-eating dinosaur from the stegosaurid family that first existed during the Early Cretaceous period in Asia. Partly due to the thick, bony plates that protect its body from predators – similar to that family's most famous member, StegosaurusWuerhosaurus also uses a brutal spiked tail that help it to defend itself when under attack against any potential predators, but its squatter stance sees it sit much lower to the ground in order to feed on vegetation and undergrowth.

Paleontology[]

The first Wuerhosaurus was discovered by renowned Chinese paleontologist Dong Zhiming in 1973 while exploring the Tugulu Group in Xinjiang, and the genus is named after the nearby city of Wuerho. Estimated to grow around 7 m (23 ft) long and weighing over 4 t (8,818 lb), Zhiming’s specimen was compromised of a partial skeleton that featured numerous vertebrae as well as a near-complete pelvis.

Paleoecology[]

Wuerhosaurus roamed China and Mongolia around 130 million years ago, making it one of the latest genera of stegosaurid to have existed. Experts believe that its short legs were adapted to allow for easy access to ground-level vegetation.
