Early Game[]
Your Priorities:[]
- Secure a stable source of income.
- Build a Ranger Station and ACU Center.
- Build a Fossil Center, Expedition Center and Research Center.
- Research everything available.
These should be done in the order listed.
Step 1: Securing your Income[]
You should incubate at least three more Struthiomimus and build some viewing galleries. This should be quite easy. Place a few fast food and gift shops.
Steps 2 and 3: Essential Buildings[]
Make sure you have at least 600$ before placing each building. Substations can be placed from the power menu if you run out of powered space. The power menu can be accessed by clicking on the yellow lightning bolt on the sidebar. You will need to connect the substation to the grid by selecting pylons and clicking on the substation then the nearest pylon. You may need to place a second pylon.
Step 4: Research Eveything[]
Simply wait until you have a large reserve of cash, then open the Research tab in your control room(the three hexagons open the Research tab when clicked on). Click on a button then click on a blue item in the new menu. This will start the research. It will take some time. Once it is done, repeat this process until all the buttons display 0 available.
Isla Tacano[]
Preparation[]
Prepare the following things on Isla Muerta first:
Required[]
- As many non-extractable fossils as you can fit in your fossil center
- Heavy steel fences
Helpful[]
- Savanna cosmetic
- Complete Struthiomimus genome
- Aggressive Instincts 2.0
- Improved Power Output 2.0
- Dig Teams Bravo and Charlie
Step 1: Get out of Debt[]
Begin by selling most or all of the shops(you can keep the fossil zone and arcade if you want), the Innovation Center, excess paths and emergency shelter. Replace the fancy paths with cheap ones. Complete the power network and the habitat fence and incubate two struthiomimus. Keep incubating until you have 6. Complete genome helps so that they don't fail, wasting precious money. Place a ground herbivore feeder in the enclosure and a small pond.
Step 2: Build Amenities[]
You will need a Fossil Center first. Remember those fossils you farmed on Isla Muerta? Once you build a fossil center, you can recoup the cost of the fossil center and gain money quickly. Sell all the fossils, then build a Ranger Station and ACU Center. Build an Expedition Center and Research Center last.
Step 3: More Dinos[]
Go to Isla Muerta regularily and pay for the expeditions and fossil extraction there. Once you have a reasonably high genome in various herbivore species(around 60-70%), start incubating a small herd of Torosauruses. These animals are easy to take care of.
Contracts and Missions[]
Contract Glossary[]
Release: Releasing a dinosaur from the Hammond Center into an enclosure using the "Release" button visible on a fully incubated egg.
Sell: Tranquilizing a dinosaur and selling it by pressing R after selecting it in the ACU Transport view.
Combat Victories: The number of dinosaurs a dinosaur(usually a carnivore) has killed in a death duel(not hunt!) Territorial or dominance fights do not count.
Dealing with Isla Matanceros's Security Mission[]
It is very easy. Simply tranquilize the objective Edmontosaurus, place them in the middle of nowhere directly under your waiting copter, tranquilize them again, put them back. Mission complete.
Dealing with Any Mission that Involves Keeping an Agitated Dinosaur inside an Enclosure[]
I highly recommend placing curved sections of wall over the existing wall. This will allow ACU more time to get there with no threat to guests. I recommend piloting a ranger vehicle inside the enclosure so you can fix the fence as soon as the dino starts to attack it. Dinos will typically move away when you fix the fence once. Use the best fence you can get for the enclosure.
Mixing dinosaurs[]
Types of Combat[]
Death Duel[]
Death duels will have both dinosaurs roaring, circling each other and making occasional strikes against their opponent until one would be reduced to under 1% health. They will have 1% health while the victorious dinosaur performs a kill animation, at the end of which the loser will die. At the start of a death duel you will receive a notification that the combatant dinos have gotten into a fight and their names. If a dinosaur is overcrowded, they may start death duels instead of territorial fights.
Hunt[]
Hunting is performed by carnivores against eligible herbivores. This will still increment the carnivore's Combat Rating bonus, but will not count as a combat victory. The carnivore performs a kill animation on the herbivore, at the end of which the herbivore dies.
Territorial/Dominance[]
In groups of herbivores that can death duel carnivores (except Indominus Rex or Indoraptor alone), or dromaosaurids, they may begin a territorial fight. This is similar to a death duel except that the combatants will separate once one is at or past the low health threshold. Dominance fights are similar, beginning when a group member has higher rating than the current alpha. This is most often seen in dromaeosaurid packs due to the fact that they will readily hunt herbivores. The higher rated combatant has an advantage in the fight and will usually win.

This table includes all dinosaurs unlocked on Isla Muerta and Isla Matanceros. Dinosaurs from DLC or later islands may be missing. If a family has differences between the small and medium members, the stats are listed as small dino stats/medium dino stats. You may need to zoom out a bit if you are using a small laptop such as a Chromebook.
Reading the Table:
Family: Paleontological taxonomic family.
Can be death dueled by: Dinosaurs that this family can engage in a death duel.
Can hunt/Can be hunted by: If herbivore, carnivores that can hunt them. If carnivore, herbivores they can hunt.
Diet: Whether the dinosaur is a herbivore or carnivore. Includes feeder type for herbivores.
Members: Dinosaurs that are considered part of this family by the game.
Here's a handy chart if you just want to know what's safe with your T-rex. Others of the same family means others of different species. Packs of small carnivores are virtually required due to their low individual rating and social nature. I personally know that T-rex will happily coexist with a pack of Deinonychus. This means even more Isla Pena rating potential.
Carnivore Combinations[]
Dinosaur | Safe With | Will Attack |
---|---|---|
Tyrannosaurids | Sauropods, dromaosaurids(except Velociraptor and T-rex together) | (T-rex only): Velociraptor
All herbivores except Sauropods, other tyrannosaurids, spinosaurids |

Spinosaurids | Sauropods, dromaosaurids, Herrarasaurus(not tested) | Small pachycephalosaurs, hadrosaurids, ornithopods, ornithomimids, other spinosaurids, tyrannosaurids |
Indominus rex/Indoraptor | Maybe a beetle. Actually, the trees aren't safe and they're plants. | Everything that moves and some things that don't. Why are you trying to mix unstable hybrid carnivores with other dinosaurs again? |

General Tips[]
- Struthiomimus are very easy to take care of. They require minimal space, needing only a tiny bit of grassland and forest, a mini pond, a ground herbivore feeder and a viewing gallery so the guests can see them.
- T-Rex can be kept with a pack of Deinonychus or Dilophosaurus with two feeders to prevent the small carnivores from starving.
- If you are short on cash, drive a ranger team into an enclosure with many dinosaurs and take photos of groups doing different things. Photos can be taken with F.
- Struthiomimus. What can I say? Unmodded Struthies cost less than refilling a carno feeder, they can be crammed in large groups into tiny enclosures, they basically never escape unless you accidentally delete the fence and they're heckin adorable to boot! Only problem is that they like exploring any space that is accessible, plus your own conscience feeding live cute things to Velociraptor and T-Rex.
- "Manufacturing Facilities". Basically, a Hammond Center leading directly into a tiny enclosure. Useful for keeping carnivores seperate from herbivores when they get released. They only stay in there for like a minute or so, and its cheaper and more space-efficient than attaching seperate Centers to each habitat. If you attach it to the pen of a carnivore that you feed live ornithomimids to, or a pen containing many herbivores, you can quickly top up herbivore populations. Make sure to put a gate there so you can manually open it to let new arrivals through.
- Most of a 5-star rating actually involves shops not dinosaurs.
- Make sure to quickly replace pack dinosaurs if they die of old age, and start replacements for the entire pack because they will probably die around the same time.
