Now this is something a little different. A Spinoceratops. Here we have a hybrid that's more than happy living in colder climates, but I'm still counting on you to give it a warm welcome, huh?

Spinoceratops, or Sino-Spino for short, is a genetically modified species of dinosaur in Jurassic World Evolution 2. Created via combining the base genome of Spinosaurus and Sinoceratops, the Spinoceratops is included in the Secret Species Pack.

History[]

Two Spinoceratops were cloned by Mantah Corp, a bioengineering company that rivals InGen, after the company obtained Spinosaurus and Sinoceratops DNA. The corporation has genetically engineered Spinoceratops to survive in arctic conditions by regulating its body temperature. Unlike most other genera of dinosaur, behaviour varies significantly between individual specimens. The survivors of Camp Cretaceous, the Nublar Six, named these individuals Angel and Rebel.[1]

Characteristics[]

Spinoceratops ā€“ also commonly known as "Sino-spino" ā€“ is a mighty omnivorous hybrid that was created from the DNA of Sinoceratops and Spinosaurus. Instantly recognizable from its impressive sail-like fin to its imposing nasal horn, the genus' appearance takes characteristics from both of its ancestors, featuring the pronounced horns of Sinoceratops and the sail of a Spinosaurus ā€“ resulting in its name, which translates to "Spined Horned Face". This genus can grow to in excess of six tonnes and more than 10 meters long. However, DNA analysis indicates that Spinoceratops is a predominantly peaceful species.

Behavior[]

As it is a relatively new genus, research into Spinoceratops is ongoing. Experts believe that it takes its palaeoecology primarily from its Sinoceratops DNA, living a tranquil existence off a primarily plant-based diet. However it does feed on fish when necessary ā€“ a trait it borrows from its Spinosaurus genes. Designed to live in cold environments, Spinoceratops is not suited to desert conditions.
