Caiuajara is a genus of tapejarid pterosaur in the Jurassic World Evolution series. Originating from Early Cretaceous South America, it was one of the smallest pterosaurs within its family.
Caiuajara was a newly added species in the base game of Evolution 3.
Characteristics[]
A small-sized flying reptile with a large bony fin on its snout, Caiuajara had a tough beak and no teeth. It could boast a wingspan of over 2 meters, and these sociable flying reptiles lived in colonies of mature adults. They likely matured in nurseries of young and sub-mature animals living together.

Paleontology[]
A more recently unearthed pterosaur, Caiuajara was discovered in a rare pterosaur bone bed known as the Pterosaur Graveyard in 2014. Dating from the Early Cretaceous, this site included at least 47 different individuals. Found in southern Brazil, where once had been a Cretaceous desert, the new pterosaur was named after the formation it was found within.
Tapejarids were actually frugivores or omnivores in real life, rather than piscivores.
Paleoecology[]
Caiuajara lived during the Early Cretaceous period, around 120 to 100 million years ago, in the desert dunes of what is now southern Brazil. They congregated near inland sand lakes and faced the risk of death from desert storms.
